|The Garden City Chorus is pleased and excited to announce the CSRA high schools that will receive music scholarship awards for 2018. In Columbia County, awards have been given to Evans High School, Lakeside High School, and Greenbrier High School. In Richmond County, awards have been given to the Academy of Richmond County, Cross Creek High School, and the Davidson Fine Arts Magnet School. In Aiken County, awards have been given to Aiken High School and North Augusta High School. Each high school will select a qualified choral student to receive the $500 scholarship, to be used for the student’s college education.
As the CSRA grows in response to the cyber industry and other initiatives, we want to do our part to encourage the high quality of life that only the arts can provide. We want to especially thank our sponsor, South State Bank. Their commitment to the arts and education in our community is magnificent. We also want to thank Turner’s Keyboards who has made a scholarship contribution in honor of its founder, Edward B. Turner Sr., who was also a charter member of the Garden City Chorus.
The Garden City Chorus (GCC) has served & entertained the CSRA for over 50 years as a chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society. As a non-profit, the organization’s priorities have been to perpetuate and celebrate the barbershop harmony style, serve audiences through an uplifting, wholesome variety of a cappella music entertainment, and help build a better community and a better world by bonding diverse people together through the pure fun of a cappella harmony as we “Keep the Whole World Singing!"
The Chorus meets on Tuesday evenings from 7-9 PM at North Augusta Church of Christ, 600 West Martintown Road in North Augusta, SC. New singers are always welcome to join our band of merry men. (Reading music is not required.)
